Friday September 8 through Sunday September 10, 2006
The Yad B'Yad Hand in Hand weekend, co-sponsored by
the Bureau of Jewish Education and supported by a generous grant
from the Stanley S. Langendorf Fund of the Jewish Community Endowment
Fund, will be held on September 8-10, 2006.
This weekend is modeled on the successful program for children
with disabilities and their families which has been held annually
at Camp Newman since 2002. It is designed for Jewish families
with children ages 4-20 with disabilities that may have prevented
them from participating in other Jewish activities or camp programs.
Families will have opportunities to enjoy all the wonderful
activities available at Tawonga, such as swimming, singing, Israeli
dancing, arts & crafts, ropes course, yoga, and hiking. We
will provide support/discussion groups for parents and a program
for siblings.
Despite limited access, we will be able to accommodate a few
campers who use wheelchairs. The counseling staff will include
Tawonga team members and individuals trained to work with people
with disabilities. For more information contact Ann Gonski at
Camp Tawonga (415) 543-2267 or Flora Kupferman at the BJE (415)
