Itching to see a new side of the country? This far-flung adventure begins with a flight to Boston, MA and includes all of the road trip excitement you've come to expect from Tawonga Quests. Over three jam-packed weeks (July 5 - 24, for teens entering grades 10-11) you and your friends will visit some of the best outdoor hotspots of New England. This trip includes picking blueberries and kayaking along the coast of Maine, backpacking through the White Mountains of New Hampshire, and relaxing among the sandy dunes on the beaches of Cape Cod. Interested in learning how to be a Wilderness Leader? We've added the Wilderness Leaders In-Training to our new and improved Specialist In-Training program (June 14 - July 3, for teens entering grades 11 and 12). Learn what it takes to become a future lifeguard, wilderness leader, arts & crafts guru, sports coach and pretty much any other Camp Tawonga specialist. Buddy up with staff to learn leadership and teaching skills, job safety, and the less tangible skill of creating a safe, fun environment as you try out all the different departments before settling on one. Tawonga Teen Service Learning (TSL) has traveled to El Salvador, Alaska, Costa Rica and Israel. In 2009 we are excited to return to Costa Rica for a unique teen travel experience in one of the world's most amazing places.
Tawonga's TSL trip is for teens who want to see the real Costa Rica while making a real difference. Teens will travel, learn and expand their understanding of the world through service in a variety of communities. Living and working side by side with people committed to bettering their own lives in a country renowned for its physical beauty, teens will go beneath the surface, learning what it means to be a responsible Jewish global citizen.
