Welcome to this great outdoor adventure! This Quest is perfect for anyone who has never been to Camp Tawonga before or wants to try a Quest after being at camp for a summer. Campers will stay on camp property Sunday, Monday, and Thursday nights (see above itinerary). On these nights they will not be sleeping in cabins. Instead the group will sleep outside together, much like a backpacking trip. All meals, except a final banquet on Thursday evening, will also be eaten as a group and separate from the rest of camp.
The backpacking trip is the highlight of this program. You DO NOT need to shop for a backpack for this Quest (though you do for all other Quests). Camp Tawonga will provide these and all group gear for the trip. You need to supply 2 quart-size water bottles (please no small disposable bottles) and a warm sleeping bag (rated for 0 or 15 degrees is best). The hike in will be between 4 - 6 miles long on various terrain. The middle day will include a day hike without the backpacks. The hike out will again be 4-6 miles. There will be no bathrooms or shelters. Our well-trained staff are prepared for every contingency to make this a fun and safe nature experience for the whole gang!
Including a full day on the Challenge Ropes Course, fun Jewish activities, and swimming in the river makes this a great introduction to our teen travel adventure Quests! Thanks for joining us!
