4th Grade Gold Rush Environmental Living Program
Is a 2 1/2 day adventure into the year 1855 where staff and students take on the roles of gold miners, merchants, and outlaws. Guided "Sourdoughs" (students live in a mining camp) pan for gold, and explore the beautiful forest. This trip back in time includes a visit to the old school house, saloon, and dance hall. Students also learn about the early Jewish settlers who found opportunity and community in the Wild West, enjoy a completely kosher menu, and practice Tefilah in the mornings.
"Thank you for such a memorable, well-organized program. It's truly the highlight of 4th grade!"
- Elizabeth Zapler (Brandeis Hillel SF teacher)
